           Solid surface countertops are also less likely to absorb bacteria than other materials, and you can easily sand down imperfections to restore them to their perfect state. Artificial marble is durable, chemically inert, and sandable.  This makes it the ideal material for long counters.  Additionally, it can be easily repaired with sandpaper or with special repair agents.  In addition, artificial marbles can be used in construction and sanitary products.
