It is composed primarily of alumina trihydrate and acrylic, epoxy, or polyester resins. The main application of solid surface is in seamless countertop installation.

The manufacturing process of Solid Surface involves a blend of acrylic resin and a powdered bauxite filler, and a color-rich pigment.
